Sponsored by American Express In its fourth year, the ‘Young Marketer of the Year’ award was created by the Hotel Marketing Association (HMA) to recognise the cream of young marketing talent in the hotel industry. Candidates entering had to demonstrate that they had made a significant contribution to the success of their company and be aged under 30. Angela was praised by the judges for her contribution to marketing from an ecommerce perspective. “She has effectively demonstrated the contribution that can be made to marketing in a broad sense, essentially from an ecommerce position. She took on a tough role and had a lot of responsibility delegated to her. She has risen to the challenges with enthusiasm and style and produce award-winning campaigns.” • Advertising campaigns • Brochure design and copy writing • Direct marketing • Digital marketing • Public Relations • Strategic Sales campaigns • Market research • Tactical promotions They had to be nominated by their line manager, General Manager or Director, with a supporting letter highlighting the candidate's achievements.Examples of campaigns produced by the candidate and the financial/marketing results of their work had to be provided. The candidate also had to provide a CV and personal statement (not longer than 1,000 words) explaining why marketing is important to their hotel unit/company. A panel of judges then evaluated the personal contribution of the candidates in developing effective marketing practice in the British hotel industry. The winner had to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the practice of marketing in a hospitality context and have also shown an ability to adapt to marketing in a recessionary climate. |
