Award Winners 2009 Announced
Angela Kallinger of the Maybourne Hotel Group, was named the hotel industry’s ‘Young Marketer of the Year 2009’, at a ceremony which took place today December 14th 2009 at London’s Millennium Mayfair Hotel.

In its fourth year, the ‘Young Marketer of the Year’ award was created by the Hotel Marketing Association (HMA) to recognise the cream of young marketing talent in the hotel industry. Candidates entering had to demonstrate that they had made a significant contribution to the success of their company and be aged under 30.

Angela was praised by the judges for her contribution to marketing from an ecommerce perspective. “She has effectively demonstrated the contribution that can be made to marketing in a broad sense, essentially from an ecommerce position. She took on a tough role and had a lot of responsibility delegated to her. She has risen to the challenges with enthusiasm and style and produce award-winning campaigns.”

The winners of the HMA’s 2009 Hotel Marketing Awards, now in their 16th year, and sponsored by American Express, were also announced at the ceremony at London’s Millennium Mayfair Hotel.

‘Best Digital Marketing Activity’ went to Intercontinental Hotel Group for Holiday Inn Green Room. The judges praised the initiative for understanding customers’ requirements well. “They demonstrated a very good understanding of their customers’ needs & wants.
There was good use of many partners to deliver visits to the website, with a wide range of offers, targeting a variety of audiences. The campaign delivers both in terms of short-term tactical needs and long-term strategic objectives. The website is creative, attractive, multi-faceted, user-friendly and with very good navigation. Very good use of multi-channel marketing to drive users to the site.”

The ‘Best Marketing Activity on a Small Budget’, award went to De Vere Hotels for their tissue box campaign. “The campaign had a clearly defined audience, the message was segmented and engaging, as well as being well-delivered and funky. They maximised all opportunities and delivered a great return on a spend of well below £5,000.”

The Hotel Marketing Awards are the only dedicated recognition scheme, which celebrate good practice in hotel marketing and are judged by industry experts.
